This is a single rose, painted at 8x8 on a wood panel.
I started it around a birthday, which is probably why it turned into what it did. There’s a certain age where you stop expecting big revelations and assume you’ve met most of what’s coming. Then you take up something new at almost-40 (painting) and find out you’re wrong. FI’ve years later and I’m still learning. The rose is at full bloom in this one, and full bloom is not the end of anything.
It’s a small painting, so it goes almost anywhere — a bookshelf, a desk, a bedside table, the wall by the stairs that never quite got sorted out. It makes a good birthday present for someone who is still busy learning things.
Oil on a 1/8”-deep wood panel, unframed. Framing available, please inquire
